About

I am a documentary filmmaker and researcher with experience in production, creative direction and editing.

I started my career as a journalist, before working as a documentarian for social movements. As part of this work I had the opportunity to travel extensively in the country and to observe and learn from diverse communities. This was a valuable education that now closely informs my worldview and work.

My work focuses on themes of memory, gender, sexuality and caste. I am drawn to stories of displacement, resettlement and the imagined worlds formed in the course of collective movement.

I also facilitate documentary labs as a space for collaborative learning, besides dabbling in design and illustrations.

Awards & Screenings

My first feature length film, Ek Tha Gaon (2021) as co-producer and editor, has won the Best Non-Feature film at India’s 69th National Film Awards. The film was also selected in the India Gold competition section of MAMI Film Festival, won a Jury Mention at the prestigious IDSFFK and the John Abraham Award by the Federation of Film Societies of India.

My work has traveled to festivals around the world, including art spaces like the Tate Modern Gallery, London. My last released work was with the Netflix documentary series The Hunt for Veerappan in the capacity of Consultant Editor.
